John 12:6-8
Disciples’ Literal New Testament

6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief. And having the money-box, he was carrying[a] the things being put there. 7 So Jesus said, “Leave her alone. It was[b] in order that she might keep it for the day of My preparation-for-burial. 8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me”.

  2. John 12:7 Or, alone. She had it. This implies she had it for this purpose, and poured it all out on this occasion. Or, alone, in order that. This implies she did not pour it all out, and was to keep the remainder until after the death of Jesus.
